Frequently asked questions
Where should I place LocalBusiness JSON-LD markup on my website?
Place the JSON-LD script tag inside the `<head>` or at the bottom of the `<body>` of your homepage and primary contact or location landing pages. In Next.js App Router, render it directly within a `<script type="application/ld+json">` block.
Can I use a more specific type than LocalBusiness?
Yes! Schema.org supports dozens of specific subtypes like `ProfessionalService`, `LegalService`, `Dentist`, `Restaurant`, `AutomotiveBusiness`, etc. Google prefers specific subtypes because they provide richer contextual signals.
Are geo coordinates mandatory for LocalBusiness schema?
While not strictly required by the Schema.org validator, Google strongly recommends `geo.latitude` and `geo.longitude` to accurately match your website entity with your Google Business Profile on Google Maps.
How do I test my LocalBusiness schema?
Use Google's official Rich Results Test and Schema.org's Validator. Both verify syntax, confirm recognized entities, and detect missing recommended properties.
