Frequently asked questions
What is the difference between Article, BlogPosting, and NewsArticle?
Article is the broad parent type. BlogPosting is best suited for personal or business blogs and technical write-ups. NewsArticle is reserved for timely, investigative, or journalistic reports qualifying for Google News.
Why does Google require a high-resolution image for Article schema?
To be eligible for Google Discover and large snippet cards, Google recommends images that are at least 1200 pixels wide with an aspect ratio of 16:9, 4:3, or 1:1.
Can an article have multiple authors in JSON-LD?
Yes! The author property can accept an array of Person objects, allowing co-authored technical papers or collaborative articles to properly credit each contributor.
Does Article schema guarantee my post will appear in Google Discover?
No schema can guarantee rankings, but valid Article markup with compelling 1200px+ images and high E-E-A-T signals is a strict prerequisite for Google Discover eligibility.
